Our next stop is the elegant resort town of Santa Margherita, our base for exploring one of the world’s legendary coastlines—the Italian Riviera. We’ll visit glamorous Portofino, a long-time retreat for Europe’s jet set, the secluded abbey of San Fruttuoso—accessible only by boat—and the UNESCO-listed Cinque Terre, a collection of stunning, centuries-old cliffside villages. Heading south to the Tuscan coast, we’ll discover this lesser-known yet captivating region of Italy. We will also explore the enchanting walled city of Lucca, walking along its perfectly preserved Renaissance-era ramparts, which offer spectacular views of the city and the surrounding countryside. Our journey also takes us inland for a visit to a magnificent historic villa with beautifully manicured gardens near Lucca.
