Day 1 - Welcome to Palermo
Thursday, April 20
Late Morning: Arrival in Palermo. Transfer to Palermo city center. Check-in to your 4-star hotel, your home for the next three nights. Enjoy an orientation walk of Palermo.
Evening: Welcome reception at the private residence of a Count and Countess at their private palazzo in the historical center of Palermo.
Day 2 - Palermo, Sicily’s Beautiful Capital City
Friday, April 21
Morning: Walking tour of Palermo center with local, licensed guide:
• Church of San Domenico (exterior)
• The “Quattor Canti”
• La Martorana Church
• Piazza Pretoria
• Church of San Giuseppe dei Teatini
• Palermo's Cathedral
Afternoon: Spend the rest of the day exploring Palermo on your own. We suggest a visit to the Palatine Chapel or the “Capo” Market, one of the oldest markets of Arab origins.
Evening: Dinner on your own.
Day 3 - Palermo–Cefalu–Monreale–Palermo
Saturday, April 22
Morning: Depart Palermo following the northern coast of Sicily to the picturesque town of Cefalu. This tiny seaside town is filled with gorgeous photo-ops.
Afternoon: Depart from Cefalu to Monreale. Discover the Byzantine beauty, Norman splendor and Arab symmetry of Monreale’s medieval Cathedral with its beautiful Benedictine Cloister.
Evening: Dinner on your own.
Day 4 - Palermo-Agrigento
Sunday, April 23
Morning: Depart for Agrigento and check-in to your 5-star hotel, for one night.
Afternoon: Walking tour with specialized guide of the Valley of the Temples. Explore the most outstanding examples of Greek architecture:
• Temple of Zeus
• Temple of Juno
• Temple of Concordia
Evening: Dinner at hotel.
Day 5 - Piazza Armerina - Syracuse
Monday, April 24
Morning: Depart for Agrigento to Piazza Armerina. Walking tour of the Villa Romana del Casale with an expert local guide. The Villa Romana del Casale is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, containing the richest, largest and most complex collection of late Roman mosaics in the world.
Afternoon: Depart for Syracuse and check-in to your 4-star hotel for 2 nights. Informal introduction to the Island of Ortigia, the heart and historical center of Syracuse.
Evening: Dinner at a local trattoria.
Day 6 - The historic city of Syracuse
Tuesday, April 25
Morning: Visit Syracuse's archeological site with a local guide. Syracuse is famous for its rich Greek history, culture, amphitheatres and architecture. Return to Syracuse center for lunch on your own.
Afternoon: Walking tour of the Island of Ortigia with local guide followed by free time to shop or relax.
Evening: Dinner on your own.
Day 7 - Syracuse-Taormina
Wednesday, April 26
Morning: Depart for Taormina with en route stop for a private lunch with cooking presentation in the countryside near Catania.
Afternoon: Arrival in Taormina, described by Goethe as “a corner of paradise”. Check-in to your 4-star hotel, your home for the next 3 nights.
Evening: Dinner on your own.
Day 8 - Taormina-Mount Etna-Taormina
Thursday, April 27
Morning: Excursion to Mount Etna, Europe’s largest active volcano.
Afternoon: Lunch and wine tasting. Spend the rest of the day at leisure in Taormina.
Evening: Dinner on your own.
Day 9 - Taormina
Friday, April 28
Morning: Walking tour of charming Taormina.
Afternoon: Free time to explore Taormina on your own.
Evening: Farewell dinner at a local trattoria.
Day 10 - Early morning transfer to the Catania airport.
End of tour.
